The Dr. Roscoe C. Brown & Christopher E. Bennett Golf Classic is One Hundred Black Men, Inc.’s (OHBM’s) summer fundraiser to provide community service and teach Black and Brown children how to golf.  This year OHBM has three offerings: a Corporate Challenge, August 3; a Not-for-Profit Challenge (Black Excellence) August 4, and a Youth Teach Golf Clinic on August 17 and 18, sponsored by Resorts World Casino.

Golf Classic Corporate Honoree – Barry Simmons

Barry G. Simmons is the Divisional President of the Northeast Division for Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) focused on the execution of the business strategy and driving growth in his division. He leads a team of more than 3,300 financial advisors across the east coast with a focus on driving, both recruiting as well as productivity.

Prior to his current role, Barry served as the Head of Wealth & Investment Management at Wells Fargo, where he led the development and execution of the sales strategy for the entire WIM organization.

Barry graduated from the University of Virginia where he majored in communications. He holds an MBA in finance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Kenan-Flagler Business School. Barry is passionate about serving the community and developing the next generation of diverse leaders. He serves as a board member of the Council of Urban Professionals, One Hundred Black Men, Inc. and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Golf Classic Member Honoree – Fred Davis, Jr.

Fred Davis Jr. is a Tax Services Partner, at Aprio. He works with a variety of clients, including high net worth individuals, private equity firms, financial services entities, and not-for-profit organizations.

Fred earned a BBA in Accounting from Hofstra University, a MS in Taxation from LIU CW Post, and a JD from Rutgers Law School. He is a decorated Forbes 2025 & 2026 top CPA and serves on the AICPA tax management committee and is a member of the corporate advisory board for the National Association of Black Accountants.

Fred is Hofstra University Trustee; One Hundred Black Men of New York’s treasurer, an advisor to the Junior One Hundred chapter at Rutgers University; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc’s Alpha Alpha Lambda chapter President.

He also sits on the board of Uniquely Me Creative Arts whose mission is to improve sensory processing disorder for special needs children through sensory-focused creative arts activities. When he is not working or volunteering, Fred enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife of 30+ years and two sons, who are both successful New York City attorneys.

For both days, your ticket purchase includes brunch, green fees, cart rentals, hand-rolled cigars, and a post-event awards reception. A portion of every dollar raised contributes to a scholar having an opportunity to earn a scholarship to go to college and have a mentor. Over a two-day period, the classic brings together an audience of more than 300 participants including golfers, non-golfers, youth, OHBM members, sponsors, and guests to Ardsley Country Club for golf and related activities.  On days one and two, golfers play an 18-hole scramble. Non-golfers participate in golf clinics, health-related workshops, spa opportunities, lunch, and a closing dinner reception.
